A Day Without Specs!

Nhea woke up to a blurred world,

A day before, her device broke,

And everything seemed to faint and whirl!

Yes, it was a hazy hour,

That’s when she realized her device’s power.

As she got up from bed,

Toward the kitchen, she fled!

To grab a slice of bread.

On the way, she banged into an artefact,

Which drove her almost dead.

Her foot turned red,

With darting pain, big tears she shed!

All happened because her device broke!

She went to have a bath,

Couldn’t find the soap,

Kept jostling her hands all over.

The shower drops fell on her wet face!

Leaving her in fog and haze.

Nhea got ready for school,

She jumbled the socks,

One black! One gray!

At her school, her friends had nothing to say.

All she noticed was her friends laugh!

Laugh! Laugh so hard!

Her hair all over,

For it was her blurred self in the mirror,

She couldn’t see!

She had to squeeze her eyes,

To look at the tiny words,

Dancing like mice!

When she came back home,

She finally got her device back!

Her mum got her a new frame,

She was happier than ever,

And promised not to be careless again!

She grabbed it quick and fast!

All the restlessness came to a halt.

When she could finally see the world with a clearer view.

How sometimes we only take things easy!

If the old one goes, they’ll buy me a new!

But for everything, the money which goes,

Only a parent knows.

“What a topsy-turvy day!” She said.

A thing lost! A lesson gained.

The clarity after wearing new specs,

Was much better than what she’d got before,

A better view,

A learning new,

And the people who were blurred,

Were finally identified by the sparkle of young eyes!

At last, they all laughed.

Nhea paid the price,

For her fault,

At least the restlessness came to a halt!
