As Endless as the Desert Horizon - “Waiting!”
Waiting since a long time,
Every moment seems to define,
The level of patience,
The upcoming suspense!
Nothing is achieved without a wait,
Nothing comes straight!
It may be an exciting wait for a phone call,
Or the sweet long wait for a special person after all!
It can be the anxious wait for an exam result,
Or the monotonous wait at the doctor’s clinic to consult…
The cheerful wait of a young child for his birthday, what next!
Or the annoying wait for a person’s text!
A determined student’s long, patient wait,
For being successful and great!
Or an impoverished person’s longing,
For his nights to turn into days of spring!
An old lady’s breathless wait for her children to return home,
When it’s so difficult to live all alone!
Or a sick man on his death bed,
Begging to God for a peaceful end!
As painful as an arrow stabbing the heart,
Tick-tick of the clock bothering from the start!
As annoying as the bee’s buzz!
As messed up as fuzz…
As saddening as bad news,
Sometimes, as exciting as Christmas eve hues!
As melancholic as the blues,
As endless as the desert horizon,
As vast as the ocean!
A wait is all that tests the patience of a man,
Be patient, as much as you can!
This wait tires you out,
Kills your doubt,
That the moment you’re waiting for,
Will the waves ever meet the shore?
The person you’re waiting for,
Will he ever return to your door?
The person who was once your favorite,
Has now become just another visit!
Will that person have the same place in your life again?
Or will you keep quiet and never complain?
When a student worked harder than ever,
And has tolerated all the mental pressure…
It’s near to impossible for a teen,
To patiently swing between,
Repeated failures and finally success,
The child goes through the rigorous process,
Just in the hope that he’ll crack the exam one day,
“When will you pass the exam?” People say!
It’s all based one word: ‘Wait!’
Have you ever thought how stressful it is?
To sit with books for hours, when all the fun you miss?
Or how hopeless a penurious man is,
Who earns bread for his family,
Not knowing if tomorrow will be any brighter,
In every scene, no one saw the future,
But it was the hope of something better,
That gave them patience,
Which gave them the power to wait,
For the final moment of victory brings tears!
Wait comes in so many forms,
As short as 60 seconds ticking of the clock,
Or as long as a 10 year wait,
I too learnt to await the best,
For if we rush, we may not conquest,
So, to all those fighting against any of these,
Take it easy, please!
Your endurance will bear the fruit you deserve!
Never let go that smile,
Because good things take time!
