Struck by Yesterday

Heart lingers,

In the times of past...

Where skies were blue and birds, singers.

Why do they not last?

Clouds overshadow the fresh breeze,

Steal our smiles,

Take away everything with ease...

We learn to walk long miles,

All alone, heart in void,

We yearn for that bit,

When we unapologetically enjoyed,

When friends did not split,

When love flourished in every pure soul,

When music wasn't needed to fall asleep,

When excelling wasn't the only goal,

When we didn't shut the door to weep,

When kids didn't need therapies,

And gardens echoed with their winsome,

When people had their talks with their teas...

When we weren't busy to meet our loved ones,

When people knew who lived next door,

And dishes travelled every neighbor's home,

Memories eroded to the shore,

Unlike loam,

Sands forget everything, slip away,

The waves that once swelled in the sea,

Disappear on their destined way,

All that we're left with,

Is nostalgia in play!
